Welcome to The Lamb Hotel Restaurant & Bar
Situated in the picturesque village of Hartley Wintney along the A.30 with it’s interesting selection of antique shops, beautiful oak common, historic 200 year old cricket green and pretty duck ponds, as well as a lovely 21 hole golf course within close walking distance.
This 17th century coaching inn has a wealth of history with references to the Civil War and retains the original beams and features from the period, a perfect place to meet for lunch, dinner or a drink in our comfortable Bar, ‘Snug’ or Restaurant.
At Hartley Row the foaming bit we prest,
While the fat landlord welcomed every guest,
Supper was ended, healths the glasses crowned,
Our host extolled his wine at every round,
Relates the Justices’ late meeting there,
How many bottles drank, and what their cheer,
What lords had been his guests in days of yore,
And praised their wisdom much, their drinking more.
Describing a journey made in 1715 from London to Exeter the author of ‘The Beggars Opera’, John Gay wrote a poem referring to the Inn in Hartley Row which reads:-
In the long held tradition, our well stocked bar offers a wide selection of popular beers, fine wines as well as a variety of delicious beverages, enjoyed by a roaring fire in the winter months and of course the ‘fat landlord’ who has now trimmed down to reflect a sign of healthier times.
In the summer months our flower filled terrace and garden are available for al-fresco food and drink and should the rain fall, part of our terrace has an all weather marquee for those who enjoy the fresh air while keeping dry!
